A Greenhouse and Your Family
With all the different shapes, sizes and types of garden greenhouses out there today, it is no wonder that some people find it very difficult to make a decision. What people sometimes forget to think about is what they are going to grow in that house.
You will need to think about the size in terms of how many plants you want to grow as well as the size they will grow too. If you want to grow trees, you will want a large greenhouse. If you want to have an average home greenhouse, a medium will do. For those who are looking for a portable house, you can go from small to medium.
The next step is to evaluate where you live and determine if there are any special needs that will need to be addressed with your wonderful greenhouse. Some of those can include snow load, severe winds and cold weather. This will help you decide on any additional equipment you may need outside of the vents and fans that are required.
Consider what your greenhouse frame and panels are made of when you look at the choices. You will want to take note of the UV rating on those you are examining and do a little research about how that rating will affect what you want to grow. Some of these come in panels and some come in rolls but they are both easy to install. When looking at the frame, just make sure it will be sturdy under the snow in your area and can withstand any sever wind.
If you live in an area that has a lot of forty-five degree and below nights you will want to invest in a heater. There are electric and propane heaters available and that work very well and it just depends on whether you have an outlet close to your growing house. If you only have a few evenings that reach into these extremes, you can use five gallon buckets on water, heated by the sun, to heat the house.
The last important consideration is the foundation. If you have level ground then you can tie the greenhouse down with tie-down kits that can be bought at almost any outdoor store that carries greenhouse products. These can also be used for various other types of foundations as long as you figure what you will need to tie down the growing house in high winds. The most important thing to consider is getting a greenhouse that works for you.
